Tip How To Save Money
By Polly Hamilton This article illustrates a few handy tips on how to save money. If you are short of money, you would be surprised how simple it is to free a few extra dollars up by thinking ahead and being organized.
Tip One: How to save money outdoors:
Consider things outside, like that leaking tap or security light that is broken and never turns off. It only takes twenty minutes to fix that sort of thing up, and it'll only help you to save money! Clean out your shed too, and your garage! Nearly everyone will find they have multiples of this or that, and things they never use. Then you can have a garage sale! This is a great tip on how to save money, because you are making money from your own possessions.
Tip two: How to save money indoors:
And once you've finished on the shed and garage, how about starting on the house! All that clutter takes up space and absorbs (but doesn't generate) heat. In spring time turn your heaters off more often and let the outside air warm your home. Just after winter, many people are still stuck with the stay inside idea. You'd be surprised how quickly your home heats up if you let the breeze and sun do their job! Something many people forget is to clean their chimney! It'll make a huge difference to how efficient your fire is. Do this at least three times a year if you live in a generally cold climate. And remember to turn off lights when you leave the room. You'd be surprised how much electricity you would save if you turned off lights, even when you only leave the room for five minutes.
Tip three: how to save money with water:
Reduce the time you spend in the shower, and minimize the amount of baths you take. When washing dishes in the sink rinse them all at once, instead of one at a time when you are finished washing them. Stop doing half full washing machine loads! Most people could halve their washing machine use by sorting their clothes properly and using the machine to its full potential.
Tip four: how to save money with budgeting and expenditure:
Do you really need all those credit cards? Or any? Can you use all the money you've saved from above and make more mortgage payments? Do you really need to get takeaways once a week or could you make a special dinner at home instead? Many families especially waste money because they are too tired or too busy. Re-evaluate your expenditure. You'll find you have far more 'treats' than you thought, and many that you don't need.
Tip five: how to save money when traveling:
So many people nowadays commute to their job. Can you use public transport? Car pool? Find a job closer to home? Because the price of petrol is rising and rising it is also important to consider how often you should be using your car for unnecessary trips. Ask yourself how often you go back to the supermarket because you forgot an item (that isn't all that important). Could your children bike to school instead of you driving 15 minutes out of the way to drop them off?
It's all the little things mentioned above that change so much how much money you have to spend on mortgage repayments, savings, etc. Review all these things in your life, some may be spot on already, but many won't be. Don't let yourself get into overwhelming debt just because you are lazy and can't be bothered thinking about how much money you spend.
