How To Write A Thank You Note
By Jason Taingahue Learn and know how to write a thank you note. There is nothing hard in learning about how to write a thank you note at all.
There are many ways to learn how to say thank you, but a thank you card or note seems the more sincere way to say thank you. You could be saying thank you for helping me move, thank you for helping me when I was sick or thank you for looking after my child, whatever it is you are saying thank you for, a card or note is sure to bring a smile to anybody's face. When learning how to write a thank you card or note, you must first consider who you are writing the thank you card to and what they have done for you. This will make it easier in knowing how to write a particular thank you card or note. There are pre-written thank you cards or notepads that you can buy from your local bookshop, but if you want to be personal then nothing beats a handwritten thank you card or note. Obviously if you are writing a thank you card or note, then the recipients of the card or note have done you a great service somehow, and so the thank you card or note should reflect this.
Always remember that the outside of the card is just as important as the note on the inside of the card. Make sure that the outside of the card has the appropriate detailing on it. You can make the card, its simple enough. A plain piece of colored card that is folded in half should suffice nicely. Write the words 'thank you' in bold letters on the outside of the card, and then think about the note you are going to write on the inside. Don't take this for granted and always remember that wording is important when you write a thank you note. You want to write a sincere thank you card or note, without making it sound like a love letter, or an abrupt note.
At the top of the thank you card or note, write the name of the person that it is directed towards. If you know the person or persons fairly well then start with dear (whoever the person is), if you start the card or note with dear, then no doubt you will be on a first name basis with the person, and therefore it is practical to put their first name. If, however, you don't know the person or persons as well, you should put to Mr. and Mrs. Basically address them formally. A couple lines under that you want to write the reason for the card or note. That you are writing to thank him/her or them, for whatever the card or note is intended. This should be quaint and to the point, and should be written without sounding too serious and not too laid back.
End the note with an open invitation. By an open invitation, I mean let them know that in the future, should you be able to help them in some way, that you are only a phone call away, and will be more than happy to return the favor. The last few words should be something along the lines of, yours sincerely, yours gratefully and then your name. Be sure to sign it probably with your first name only if you know them personally, and first and last name if the thank you card or note is more formal.
A thank you card or note should sound good and look good. Like I said at the beginning, the outside of the card is just as important as the inside note, and a well written thank you card is sure to bring a smile to the face of the recipient. Just to let them know that what they have done for you is important to you, and you have recognized this.
