Many people all over the world these days own a computer, so wanting to learn and know how to use the internet is a common desire. If you are one of these people who need to know how to use the internet, then this document is designed for you. Keep reading and i will go into some details regarding how you can learn about being able to use the internet.

The first thing you need to know when learning how to use the internet is to first make sure that you are hooked up with an internet service provider. An internet service provider is a business or person that provides you access to the world-wide-web. There are many to choose from and each has different costs and offer different services in addition to an internet connection. However without this service, you not be able to start to use the internet at all.

When logging onto the internet there are 2 options. You either use your phone line to dial up a connection or you will have a dedicated phone line for internet usage or broadband. Knowing how to use either one of these connections is extremely importnant. Dial up is where you use your phone line to dial up a certain phone number to hook onto the internet. The connection can sometimes be unstable and if you only have the one phone line in the house, then nobody can call you. It is a good idea, in this case, to have either a voice mail on your phone that will take messages while you are on the internet or have 2 phone lines, 1 for internet use and 1 for phone use. Broadband is where your phone line is split into 2 separate lines. One phone line but half of it takes the phone calls and the other one takes the data calls, or rather, the internet.

The internet is a great cyberspace of information. It's an electronic library at your fingertips with information on absolutely everything you can think of. It is free advertising space for people and businesses and is probably more widely used then the average phone book. Everyone in the world can contribute to the internet because no one person owns it.

When you have successfully hooked onto the internet, click onto the blue 'e', that is probably on your desktop. This will open your internet home page and it is the first page that you will see when you open up internet explorer. This is your gateway to the internet and is a great place for you to start. In the address bar you always start with www, and then put the name of the site you want to see, and then end with .com. The best tip I can possibly give you on how to use the internet, is to find yourself an internet search engine. These search engines do all the work for you, when trying to find an internet site. Just by typing in a few keywords, the search engine will bring up literally millions of sites that match these keywords. Google is widely used and is very reliable; it only takes a split second to type find millions of results. There are many search engines to use, far too many to list but these search engines will make your internet experience a lot more pleasant. These search engines will help you find chat rooms, messenger services, business sites and sporting sites, everything you can possibly think of.

Remember that when you are finished using the internet to close your internet connection. This will free up your phone line and will make sure that the kids don't hook on and go to any unmentionable sites. This article has only covered the basics of using the internet, there is much more to learn and much more to be taught,
