So for one reason or another you want to learn and know how to use a butterfly knife. This article will go into brief detail on just how you can learn how to use a butterfly knife. However, to begin with, did you know that a butterfly knife is other wise known as a Balisong knife?

Before you learn how to use a butterfly knife, you will initially learn that there are in fact over 100 varying techniques used in being able to use and throw a butterfly knife. So are you prepared to learn a great deal about how to use a butterfly knife, or are you really just playing around. Because if you are not that interested in learning just how to use a butterfly knife appropriately, then this article may not be for you, and nor will learning how to use a butterfly knife be for you.

You will at first learn that a butterfly knife is in fact a switch blade knife. You have to be careful with such a knife as they can ultimately cause a lot of damage. Many children or young teens seem to like carrying butterfly knives around. The sad thing about this is, many of them would not have learned properly just how to use a butterfly knife, and carry the butterfly knife purely for violent acts.

Butterfly knifes are relatively simple to use once you have learned just how to use them safely and properly. The fact there are so many varying ways to use a butterfly knife, is what is so time consuming when you take up learning how to use a butterfly knife.

This keeps the blade safe from things like corrosion and is in addition a great safety precaution if you happen to be carrying a butterfly knife around in your pocket, although this is strictly not advisable.

You will learn that you can open the butterfly knife rather quickly by holding on to one side of the two sided handle and with a flicking or swinging motion open the butterfly knife so that the blade is not showing and in position. You will learn that if the blade is in the correct position and the butterfly knife has been opened successfully, the two sided handle will in fact come together and click into place.

You will in addition learn that a butterfly knife can in fact be opened and/or closed with only the use of one hand. Because the butterfly knife was always the knife thought to be carried by violent criminals, it is now in a lot of states in America prohibited from being carried or even owned.

When you get more into learning how to use a butterfly knife, you will discover that of the two sided handle, one side is called the safe side, while the other side is called the dangerous side. This is because if you open the butterfly knife holding onto the wrong side of the handle (this being the dangerous side) you can in fact quite well cut yourself. So in learning how to use a butterfly knife, you will in fact learn just how to open the butterfly the correct way and safely.

To open a butterfly knife you will learn to place your thumb on the side of the safe handle and then make sure you have pressed the safe side between your thumb and index finger. While doing this, you can now uncurl your other fingers and as your other hand begins to drop, so will the other side of the handle, which will therefore make the blade follow suit. You will learn to now curl your fingers back around the safe handle side of the handle to the butterfly knife. Now that you have your fingers safely secure around the safe side of the butterfly knife handle, you can now move your thumb upwards and out of the way. Give the dangerous side of the handle a slight help and it will flick up and rest on top of the safe handle side to the butterfly knife. The blade of the butterfly knife will simply follow and a specific pin in the butterfly knife will stop the blade at the correct position.

This is basically all there is to knowing how to open and use a butterfly knife. However if you want to learn different techniques and varying moves you can do with the use of a butterfly knife, I suggest you do further research on how to use a butterfly knife. Always remember that after following the guidelines I have supplied for you above on how to use a butterfly knife, that you lock the handles into the open position before you use the butterfly knife at all for anything.
