So you think you need to know how to treat bee stings. In fact, i beleive that every parent, especially, should know how to treat bee stings. You never know just when a bee will strike.

Learn and know how to treat bee stings, so when you or one of your children actually get a bee sting, you or they can be treated appropriately if they in fact suffer from a bee sting.

Bee stings can in fact be very dangerous for some, as some people have an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Bee stings can cause lack of breath and hypoventilation. If you do not know if your child will in fact react this way due to bee stings, keep a very close eye on them.

Bees will place themselves in peculiar places, or sometimes just don't move when a person gets closer. I mean to say, I sat on one once, and yep I wore a bee sting on the butt. Thankfully the stinger from the bee was not firmly lodged where it should not have been, so that bee sting was relatively easy to treat.

So just how do we treat bee stings? you may ask. There are a few ways you can treat bee stings, but one of the most common ways is to run the sting or stings under cold water. This will not only relieve the stinging sensation, but will also hopefully dislodge the stinger that the bee may have left behind. This does not happen with all bee stings. When you treat bee stings, other than wanting to be rid of the stinging sensation, the stinger will have to be removed. If the cold water does not dislodge the bees stinger, you may have to try to remove it using other methods. If the stinger is obvious, you can at times get a hold of it with your fingernails. But then this depends on the length of your fingernails to begin with. You can also sterilise a sewing needle and have a little dig with that, but be very careful not to actually dig the needle too far into the bee stings affected area.

When you treat bee stings, make sure you have clean hands. You would not want to infect the area where the bee stings you, because you had dirty hands. And remember, even though it is just a bee sting, the stinger could have opened up a piece of skin, meaning broken skin, which means chance of infection. Once the stinger has been removed, if the bee left its stinger behind, you can opt to rub gently over where the bee sting or stings are located, some butter. Butter is thought to be a very soothing ingredient. However many people may question that this form of treatment for bee stings is purely an old wives tale. Yet many an old wives tale, does in fact ring true in some situations. Maybe this will be the case for you when you want to know how to treat bee stings.

It is also believed that when you are trying to treat bee stings, you can use Calamine Lotion or an Aloe Vera Cream or Gel. These two products will relieve the burning, stinging or itchy feelings that bee stings can generate.

If you notice that swelling is starting to take place, take approximately 10mls of Benadryl. This will in fact relieve the swelling. However if the swelling does not begin to subside or the swelling from a bee sting appears to be getting worse, you are advised to seek urgent medical attention. This could very well be a sign that an allergic reaction is taking place, and this could be very dangerous.

In some cases there is also available for those that are obviously allergic to bee stings, a shot that you can keep at home to be used for treating a bee sting if one should happen.

Now that I have given you a few details regarding how you can treat bee stings in a variety of ways, you should be prepared. Always be on the look out for bees, especially a bees nest. They do not like to be disturbed, and could in the worse case scenario turn nasty on you.

Try to avoid wearing sweet scented perfumes anywhere where you think there will be a swarm or a lot of bees. They will automatically be attracted to you because of the sweet smelling perfume. We all know that bees like sweet fragrances. And please teach your children not to jump up and down and wave their arms about when they see a bee or a group of bees. This will also attract the bee or bees over to them, and will more often than not, create bee stings.
