How To Prepare For An Interview
By Leeanne Utiger Knowing how to prepare for an interview can be a little worrying for some applying for a job. There really is nothing to be concerned about. The key to a successful and relaxed interview is to remember, first and foremost be yourself. There is no point in going into an interview pretending to be someone you are not.
Prior to the interview date, it is always a good and beneficial idea to do some research into the company of who you have made your job application to. There are many ways you can in fact do this. A lot of information that one can find out is through word of mouth. You may know a person who knows more of the company than you already do yourself. Further to that approach, you can more often than not, find all relevant details and information you should or would need to know of the said company on the internet. If you use this method, it is always a brilliant idea to bookmark the company's page for recurring viewing, or just simply for refreshing yourself of what you have already taken note of.
Know in advance the name of the person you are actually having the interview with. This is very impressionable to the interviewer.
Think of possible questions that the interviewer may in all likelihood ask you at the interview. These are basically commonsense ways of knowing how to prepare for an interview. It does not make any difference to how you prepare for an interview, whether you have an interview for an Office Administration position, or a Factory Worker position. Employment is employment however you look at it.
In advance, prepare for your interview what you are going to wear on the day. Tidy dress is always a must. First impressions really do count, even at times down to having clean and polished shoes. This may seem minor and of no regard. Do not overlook the simple, yet effective ways of making a great first impression.
Smell clean, there is nothing worse than having to sit in the same room within close proximity with someone who has not taken the time hygienically to prepare themselves and once again make that great initial impression.
Practice at home beforehand how in fact you are going to answer the possible questions that will be asked of you. You can even try practicing with a friend or family member. Get them to simply ask questions that are commonly asked at a job interview. This is once again, a great way to prepare for a job interview.
Always know where your job interview is to the last detail. It is no good 'thinking' you know where it is. I even make the suggestion of a few days prior take a drive, or public transport (whichever you will be using to make the job interview destination) and work out a suitable route to get there. Even take a note of how long it in fact takes you to there. This can prevent you arriving late, or in fact run the risk of possibly getting lost on the day of your interview. Being late, or getting lost is never a good first impression, and this could in hindsight limit your chances of having a good interview from the moment you arrive.
On preparing for your job interview, using all the techniques and advice above you should have a comfortable and more often than not, an enjoyable job interview.
Last but not least, try practicing ways of relaxing. Finding ways to divert yourself away from nerves and jitters will also be extremely helpful. Interviewers have the tendancy to notice these sort of things.
