How to play craps

So you want to play craps? The game is a famous dice version of an old formula. Betting on the probability of numbers is the basic principle, anyone can play this game. Craps is an exciting casino game. It is a regular thing to see people yelling and shouting at a craps table. The dice are very important. Often they are changed every eight hours to ensure their safety and that they haven't been tampered with. The dice should be thrown by only one hand and if they are thrown off the table the supervisor will inspect them. It is easy to learn how to play craps. You have two dice which you throw down the table to hit the end, this is an 'establishing' throw which you then have to repeat with another throw. After you do this you have to throw a seven, which is 'craps'. Placing wagers on this and many other facets of the game allows you to really place some significance on each throw, making the game interesting. When you learn how to play craps keep in mind that it is a game, a misplaced wager could be disastrous and thus discretion is advised.

The underlying principle is probability when you play craps. The payoffs for each wager are based on the probability of a number combination being rolled versus the probability of the seven being thrown. For instance, the probability of the 4 being rolled is 3 out of 36 while the 7 will appear 6 out of 36 rolls. Therefore the "true odds" for the 4 is 6-to-3 or 2-to-1. The 4 is actually paid at 9-to-5. Those are the "house odds". The difference between the "true odds" and the "house odds" is just another way the casino makes money.

When you play craps you will notice players take turns rolling the dice, passing them clockwise around the table. If a new player throws the dice they are called a 'new shooter' and their first roll is called the 'come out' roll. The stickman (the casino employee with the stick) will call out "New Shooter coming out". It is important to understand the various rules to learn how to play craps properly.

The first thing you should do upon arrival to the craps table is exchange your cash into gaming chips, in craps this is done by placing your cash onto the table and yelling "change". Handing your money to one of the dealers is not allowed in craps, it is considered poor etiquette and they will not take your money from your hand. It is advisable to ask for change between rolls of dice, some players even consider it poor manners to ask for change at anytime other than before the "come out" roll. As you can see there are many things that you need to know in learning how to play craps.

When you learn how to play craps it is important to understand how the dice work. Winning or losing depends on the variety of possible outcomes of each roll. Certain numbers come up more frequently than others when you are using two dice. They can produce 36 different number combinations and whilst some are produced many ways, others are produced only one way. The combination of 5/1, 3/3, 2/4, 1/5 or 4/2 all make 6, yet the number 2 is made only by 1/1. Numbers that come up more frequently or that are rolled by more combinations are of less worth in terms of payout. These are just the beginnings of learning to play craps.

Be careful when learning how to play craps because the casino is always looking for beginners to take money from. If you don't know what you are doing take someone who does or watch and learn. It is very easy to lose a lot of money and thus should not be taken too lightly, it is important to be vigilant at all times and I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.
