How to parallel park

Parallel parking is a skill which you will use every day. You must be confident in your own ability to perform this maneuver as it is the preferred way of street parking and often you will be in a situation where people are waiting for you to parallel park before they can continue commuting. There is no secret to parallel parking well. The best parkers are those who know the dimensions of their vehicle well enough. On the road there is usually more room than when you need to park so being able to direct your car smoothly and gracefully into the car park is directly correlated with knowing your vehicles parameters. I will let you know the theory behind efficient parallel parking but the only way to know how to parallel park well is by physically practicing in the vehicle concerned.

It is necessary to know how to parallel park for not only convenience. Try explaining to your date why you had to park in the car park building instead of outside the restaurant without sounding like a loser. Worse still why you parked a kilometer away from her house when you came to pick her up. Socially also you will have trouble convincing your mates you're the man if you have to make them move their cars so you can drive off. If you can't parallel not only will you have no girlfriend, no mates and a reputation for being unable to drive you will also have to live with the fact you should not be driving a car.

Employment may be difficult if you do not know how to parallel park your car. Any jobs which involve operating a vehicle will be almost impossible for you. This includes operating heavy machinery, logistic and transportation industries. Not to mention the fact you are always late for work as you drive around in circles looking for a suitable park. How to parallel park is an integral part of operating a motor vehicle.

The easiest and most efficient way to parallel park is a 3 step process.

Firstly you must align yourself parallel to the car in front of the car park you wish to end up residing in. Then whilst reversing you want to angle the rear of the car back into the car park which you wish to stop in. After the front of your vehicle has cleared the car in front of you, you want to turn your wheel sharper so your car ends facing the same direction in which it began. Drive forward to the middle of the park to give all cars adequate room to maneuver out of their respective parks and straighten the wheel of your car. You have now successfully parallel parked a vehicle.

Now you know how to parallel park, you need to know how to leave the park without hitting the cars in front or behind you. The easiest way to do this is to drive forward to the bumper of the front vehicle. This is only necessary when you are tightly parked in. Then proceed to reverse slowly whilst turning the wheels towards the curb at the rear. This will give you appropriate space from which you can drive forward and turn the wheel back to straight. This should give you enough clearance in front to drive out of the park. If not, repeat the procedure with the ultimate aim to gain enough room for the car's nose to clear the front vehicle. Now you will no longer worry about how to parallel park a car.
