How To Make Silly Putty
By Leeanne Utiger For one reason or another you want to learn how to make silly putty. This article will tell just how you can make silly putty. And surprisingly enough, there really is not a lot to learn about how to make silly putty. I have a very simple, easy to follow guideline below regarding how children can even make silly putty, so once you have managed to learn to make up this recipe for silly putty, maybe you can then teach your children how they too can make up their own batch of silly putty.
To know how to make silly putty, you will need a couple of things which I have listed below:
Glue All - it is suggested that you use a brand name called Elmers
Liquid Starch
You can purchase liquid starch at any good local supermarket. This is generally found down the laundry aisle. If you can not find the liquid starch, I suggest you ask for assistance from one of the sales staff at the supermarket. They should be able to point you in the right direction.
You will learn how to make silly putty by combining these two ingredients together. You must always remember to use twice as much of the Elmers Glue All to the amount of Liquid Starch you use. If you do not remember to do this, you will not have learned how to make silly putty successfully.
Combine these two ingredients together with the required amounts. If you find that the mixture you combine is too sticky, simply add a little more liquid starch.
Once you have mixed these ingredients together to form the right consistency, you can then place the made up mixture of silly putty in to your refrigerator. You will have to keep this silly putty mixture you have learned how to make in your refrigerator over night. If you do not leave the silly putty in the refrigerator over night, it may not have set properly and will not have the same ability to do with it as you would like.
Once the silly putty you have learned how to make has been in the refrigerator over night, you can then take it out and begin to use it for what it is you want to use it for.
This silly putty that you have now successfully learned how to make up, can be cut with scissors if that is what you would like to do with it, or can even be twisted into all sorts of shapes and sizes. The silly putty you have learned to make is great for the children to play with, as it is easily manageable and they can make all sorts of things with it.
If you like, on learning how to make the silly putty (just for a bit of difference), try adding a little drop of food coloring. You can purchase food colorings from your local supermarket also. You can get red, green, blue and even yellow. In addition to purchasing the food coloring from your local supermarket, you can also try to find them at a craft store, or visit someone who is into cake decorating. They may be able to point you in the direction of a more advanced food coloring brand. This will simply give the silly putty you have learned how to make additional color. The children will love this. And at the end of the day, if you are learning how to make silly putty for your children, they can have their very own silly putty, which will be determined by the color of the silly putty you have learned to make for each of them. This should therefore prevent any arguing or fighting over what silly putty belongs to who.
Now that I have given you a very simple guideline about how to make silly putty, why not wander off and try to make some silly putty for yourself or your children. In fact, why not make it a family fun event. Gather the children together and as you learn how to make the silly putty following these easy instructions, encourage your children to learn how to make silly putty at the same time.
