How To Make French Toast
By Polly Hamilton French toast is a wonderful breakfast treat, and it is really easy to learn how to make it! All you need is a non-stick frying pan, stove top, and the following ingredients:
2 eggs
½ cup of milk
½ teaspoon of vanilla
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
6 slices of bread (just before they are due to go stale is best)
1 tablespoon (or more) of butter
topping of your choice (see below for ideas)
Below is the 6 simple steps for how to make French toast:
1 Put the oven on to warm (for French toast made at the beginning)
2 beat your eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla together in a bowel which is big enough to fit a piece of bread flat on the bottom (baking pans often work well). You can add salt, or anything else to taste, depending on what toppings you plan on using.
3 dip a piece of bread in the mixture, coating both sides (repeat this step once you have cooked each piece). Keep repeating this process until you have used all the batter.
4 heat the non-stick frying pan and melt the butter in it over a medium heat. Fry one piece of bread at a time until golden brown on both sides (the less you turn the better). Add more butter if you need it before frying each new piece.
5 Remember to use the oven to keep already cooked pieces warm!
6 Serve the toast with your choice of topping or see below for suggestions.
