How To Make Bead Jewelry
By Leeanne Utiger Learn how to make bead jewelry, and then be able to show others, or even your children how to make bead jewelry. There are a number of ways you can make bead jewelry, some ways easier than others. I am going to go into detail on how to make a simple beaded bracelet, one that any child could learn how to make. And we all know how children, especially girls like to be able to make their own jewelry.
There are a couple of things that you will need to be able to make this particular form of bead jewelry. So, you will need to have on hand, some fine elastic, (possibly shearing elastic), an assortment of beads to your choice, and some scissors.
Now as I have mentioned above, learning how to make bead jewelry can be very easy, and this beaded jewelry bracelet could not be any easier, so make sure you have your children about when you first have an attempt at making this beaded jewelry. They will more than likely want to join in, so it is also a good idea to have extra beads and elastic on hand.
To begin with, you will have to know how long you are going to need your piece of shearing elastic to be. Measure around the wrist of the person or child that this particular bead jewelry bracelet you are making is for. Cut the elastic slightly longer than the width of the said persons wrist. This is simply because you need to have it long enough to tie off the ends once you have finished all of the other steps involved in knowing how to make bead jewelry, in this case a beaded bracelet.
Now that you have cut a sufficient length of shearing elastic, you can now thread your beads on to this. You can obtain beads from any good craft store in your local area. Trust me, the availability is endless, and the choices are abundant. Half the fun is in the shopping for the particular beads you choose to use when you learn how to make bead jewelry. Once you have placed enough beads on the piece of shearing elastic, you can gather the two ends together and tie them together in a knot. This should keep the beaded bracelet sufficiently held together, so as the beads do not fall off. Now the bracelet that you pre-measured earlier for the intended wearer, should be able to slip nicely on to the wrist of this person and sit there quite comfortably without falling off. If in fact you find the bracelet is too big, and does slip off, you have simply cut your piece of shearing elastic too long. This is easily fixed. Just snip the knot undone and cut away a fraction of the beaded jewelry bracelet you have made.
There are many other ways you can learn how to make bead jewelry, and many books you can obtain to give you exact step by step instructions on how to make a particular piece of jewelry.
Patterns can vary from the very easy, as I have described about above, to the very intricate. It really all does depend who is wanting to learn to make the bead jewelry and who the bead jewelry that you do make is intended for.
