How To Make A Purse

Have you ever considered making your own purse? Well, if you have, then now you can do just that - make your very own purse. In this article I will you some basic instructions on you can make your very own purse. Once you have learned to make your own purse, you will be able to show it off to others that you know, and quite possibly be able to show them how to make a purse.

Bear in mind there are other ways you can learn how to make a purse. You can visit a local fabric store and purchase a hand made purse pattern. Within this purse pattern there will be an instruction sheet, telling you exactly how to make the purse and what materials you will need to successfully make the purse. Most of these purse patterns and instructions are very easy to follow. In fact you can even buy purse patterns that your children can learn how to make.

I am going to tell you how to make a purse simply with the use of a placemat. You will need one placemat of your choice and a pair of purse handles.

To make this purse all you have to do is fold the placemat in half, making sure the right side of the placemat is on the inside, and the wrong side of the placemat is on the outside facing you. Now you are ready to start making and sewing up your purse. Because there is a folded edge at the bottom of your placemat purse, you do not need to sew along this bottom edge. However you will need to sew up both sides of the placemat joining the folded piece together. When you make this purse, you should leave at least 1.5cm for seam allowance.

Now you have to seam the top edges of the placemat purse you are learning how to make. Fold the top edges towards you so you have a flap coming over from the right side of the placemat to the wrong side. You have to make sure you sew the top edges separately. You do not want to join the top edges together or you will end up with a closed placemat purse, which you can then do nothing with.

Once you have seamed the top edges separately you are ready to attach your purse handles onto the purse you have managed to learn how to make.

You will need to measure the width of your handles and then place markers on to each side of the placemat bag on the right side, (so make sure you have turned the purse you have now successfully learned how to make in the right way). Once you have placed your appropriate markers, you can then attach your purse handles in place according to the instructions that will come with the purse handles you have chosen to place on to the purse you have taken the time to learn to make up for yourself.

That is all there is to learning how to make a purse simply out of using one placemat and a pair of handles. If you wish to embellish the purse you have learned how to make, you can consider either ironing on a transfer to one side of the placemat purse, or even consider embroidering a pattern on to one side of the placemat purse.

Now that you have been successful at learning how to make a purse of your own, you may want to help and teach your child to make a purse of their own. They are very simple to make and with some guidance a child also has the capability to learn how to make their very own purse also.
