Maybe you are redecorating a room in your house and need to know how to install carpet. You can learn how to install carpet yourself, yet I would suggest that you get in a professional carpet layer to come into your house and install your carpet for you. These people have been taught how to install carpet properly and will know exactly what to do.

When you learn how to install carpet, you will learn what equipment you will need and how to use this equipment. In saying that, I have compiled a list of what you will need to assist you when you learn how to install carpet.

Tape, glue, heated carpet iron, carpet knife, tacks and adhesives, and of course the carpet you have chosen to learn how to install into the room you are going to redecorate.

Now back to knowing how to install the carpet. When it comes to joining any carpet seams or the edgings on the carpet you are learning how to install, you will use the glue with the heated carpet iron. You can if you decide to take another approach, in fact sew the edges and the carpet seams up. However, I suggest you use the tape and glue method. It is much easier and not as painstakingly time consuming.

You will learn how to have the carpet trimmed so that it fits into the allocated area, making sure all excess pieces of carpet are removed and taken away. You can do this using the carpet knife, or something else known as a wall trimmer.

You will also learn when finding out how to install carpet that the surface you are going to install the carpet to, will have to be as smooth as possible, having no or very little imperfections. Any imperfections will in fact cause the carpet you install to be uneven or slightly raised in some areas on the floor. This you do not want to happen, as this in hindsight could damage your newly installed carpets sooner than later.

You will learn how to roll out and measure your carpet to fit the room size. Don't forget that you will need a little extra final fitting of the carpet you are learning how to install. Once you have rolled and measured the carpet adequately, you can then cut the carpet with the carpet knife.

You will learn how to stretch the carpet out covering the floor, keeping it smooth and free from being bunched up anywhere. You can then press the carpet you are learning how install onto the tacking strips, or glue it down using the heated carpet iron. This will obviously be what keeps the installed carpet in place.

You will also learn when you learn how to install carpet, that if you choose to in addition install carpet padding, you use the same methods above, however you install this before you install the carpet.

When you place the tacking strips on to the floor ready for placing the carpet you are learning how to install to, remember to always nail these down. If you do not do this, your carpet will not be firmly installed as the tacking strips will not be either.

Now that I have given you a few brief details on how to install carpet, you can try to put these methods into action. However, if you still feel a bit daunted or are not sure you could manage to do a good job of installing carpet, do as I suggested very early on in the article, and call in a professional who knows exactly how to install carpet.
