How To Grow Tomato

Summer is coming and you want to learn how to grow tomatoes.

First and foremost, before you even begin with growing tomatoes, you will need to make a choice of what sort of tomato plant you want to know how to grow. Some people will prefer big fat tomatoes, while other people are quite happy to learn how to grow cherry tomatoes.

Planting your tomato plants in rich soil will in fact make them grow better and ultimately give you a better crop of fruit. You can if need be add additional compost, peatmoss or other forms of organic matter. These will add to the growing ability of the tomato plant. Tomato plants should be placed 1 ½ - 2 feet apart from each other in a row. Make sure you plant the tomato plant deep enough for growth to occur amongst the roots. This will also prevent your tomato plants from being blown over in a gust of wind. We do not want out tomato plants uprooted. Another disadvantage to planting the root ball to close to the top of the ground where you have chosen to plant your tomato plant, is one of drying out the plant too much, ultimately making the tomato plant die.

When you plant your tomato plants, make sure you not pack the soil around the top of the plant in the ground as you may snap the stem of the tomato plant. Tomato plants need to be fed tomato plant food. This will assist and make your tomato plant thrive and have a very sustainable season with many fruits forming. You will also need some stakes for placing and tying to your tomato plants. Stakes will keep your tomato plants in place and also prevent them from being blown over in any sudden gust of wind. As tomato plants grow upwards, a stake is used for support to the plant. Just try not to stake the stake through the roots of your tomato plant while placing in the ground.

It is of utmost importance when learning how to grow tomatoes, to also learn how often to water them and keep them healthy. Tomato plants will have to be watered every day, however you will get away with watering them every second day. You should feed your tomato the tomato plant food at least once to twice a week. This will encourage growth and flowering, and we all know that each flower that appears on a tomato plant, is actually indicating where a tomato will grow. A flowery tomato plant is in fact a fruiting tomato plant.

You may also want to protect your tomato plants further. Learn how to do this with a type of fine matting or netting. Make out of this a type of cage or circular round. Place this around your tomato plant to prevent birds from pecking at any growing fruit.

Now I will move on to the inside of your home and how you can also know how to grow tomatoes in there. You may be wondering "what's this author on"? simply because you may not have ever witnessed anyone trying to grow tomato plants inside of their house. In fact, this can be done. You can purchase a tomato plant called a drooping cherry (the name of this particular tomato plant may vary in some countries). However this tomato plant is a cherry tomato which is manageable to grow inside. Simply plant the cherry tomato plant in a plant pot, and keep on a sunny well lit windowsill. Care for this tomato plant the same as you would for a tomato plant you have planted outside. Water it the same and remember to feed it some plant food at least once a week. You will be amazed at how fast this tomato plant will in fact grow.

Now that I have gone into some basic details on how to grow tomato plants, I suggest you take a trip to your local garden store or nursery and have a look at all of the varying choices of tomato plants that are available for purchase.
