Roses vary in height, ranging from miniature roses, to hybrid tea roses. Knowing how to grow your roses will at times be determined by what sort of rose you are wanting to learn how to grow.

When you learn how to grow roses, you will also learn that roses do in fact grow rather quickly, and each and every rose needs to be cut back, or in other words, pruned each year. This in fact helps with the growth of a rose the following season.

You will discover when you find out more on how to grow roses, that roses are actually susceptible to disease and pests. Aphids are a common pest that will constantly want to be covering your rose. A very good tip for learning how to grow roses eliminating this particular pest, is to save the soapy water from your washing machine, and pour this over your rose. For some reason, the Aphid does not take a liking to the soapy water and will disappear. There are also pest control sprays you can purchase from any good garden store or hardware store to help you in your fight against any pests or disease that your rose may obtain. When you learn how to grow and look after your roses, you will quickly learn that roses need to be treated for these pests as soon as possible, before they get taken over and ultimately damaged or destroyed. A healthy rose is a rose without disease or pest infection.

On learning about how to grow roses, you will soon learn, that roses need plenty of sunshine, so make sure when you plant a rose, you plant it in a sunny area, or an area that will get at least 6 - 8 hours of sunshine a day, or most day, depending on the weather. Morning sun is extremely important as it will dry out the leaves n the rose and also prevent disease.

Knowing how to care for your roses is of utmost importance. It is extremely important that you do not plant your rose near fruit trees, as this will enhance the possibility of disease and pests.

You will also learn how to plant your roses in the correct soil. Make sure the soil is well drained and has plenty of air circulating through it. A raised soil bed is suggested when planting roses.

On knowing how to grow roses, you will also know to plant roses in late Autumn, early Spring and even late Winter.

Now to learning how to plant your rose in the soil in the ground. You will need to dig a fairly large hole. Once you have done so, spread the roots of the rose around before placing in the hole you have prepared. Now you can place your rose in the ground, rechecking that your hole is big enough for the roots of the rose to spread a little. As you fill the hole in again with soil, make sure you eliminate any possible air pockets.

On learning how to plant and grow a rose, you will in addition to the above learn about removing any dead leaves from around your rose on planting.

You will also learn how to use chemical fertilisers, however the use of these is not recommended until after your rose has bloomed for the first time. And always be careful when using chemical fertilisers. Not only do we not want to burn the roots of our rose, but nor do we want to burn our eyes. You will learn how to use chemical fertilisers on a day when it is not windy.

You will also learn how to use a rose food. This is a substance that you can place in the soil around your rose, which will in turn assist and advance the growth rate and ability of your rose.

Now you have learned enough on how to grow roses, to actually be able to go out and buy one or more roses to plant in your garden. But always remember, on growing roses, you will have to learn how to water them regularly. Roses need lots of water to assist in their growth.
