How To Get Sponsor
By Leeanne Utiger So you need to learn and ultimately know how to get a sponsor?
There is no set rule for being able to get a sponsor, more so a matter of using your manners and knowing how to be creative and extremely honest with complete accuracy of what you in fact need a sponsorship for. This will all ultimately help you get a sponsor.
You may be involved in a sports team that is travelling away to a big competition. Because of this you need or will have to get the appropriate attire to wear at the sports event venue. Maybe you have to get new tracksuits for the whole team, or maybe you simply need the sports club logo and name of where you belong printed on the back of your already owned tracksuits. Because of the cost involved in this very thing, you will have to learn how to get a sponsor from a business or company.
In such a situation, you can then undertake the task of getting a sponsor.
There are a couple of ways you can get a sponsor. If you own a computer, you can do a scan through the local phone book and note down a list of possible places who would more than likely be in a position to in fact sponsor you. Once you have managed to get a list of approximately five to ten possibilities, keep it aside. Now from this list when you first try to learn how to get a sponsor, you will have to make a choice of one. It is never wise to work on more than one possibility of gaining a sponsor, as you will always have to do a favour in return for a sponsor. Yet at the same time, do this in a way where you are not having to run into any expense of your own. That would in turn defeat the purpose of learning how to get a sponsor in the first place.
You now have to draft up a letter, come email that you will be forwarding to your chosen source of hopeful sponsorship. You will need to include in this letter/email information regarding what you need a sponsor for, and what you need to get for your team, how much it will cost them, and what you will do in return for them, if they do in fact opt to be obliging and sponsor you and your sports team or club and make it possible for you to get what it is you are in need of. You will have to include contact names and numbers for the company or business to be able to get back to you and keep in direct contact with you regarding the whole process of the sponsor. Once you have drafted up a letter to request a sponsor, either write or type it out very neatly, covering all you have to cover, supplying all of the necessary information for a possible sponsor. Seal this in an envelope and address to the business or company concerned. As an alternate method and approach to ask a business or company to be a sponsor, you can forward this same letter via email. This will in fact get to the business or company much faster as well. This is where the use of your computer would come into play. Emailing a request for a business or company to sponsor you is also a great way to keep track of all inward and outgoing mail to this company or business concerned.
Wait a few days for a response and then go from there. If this company or business politely decline your request for them to sponsor you, accept that politely and reply with a thank you for their time email, or letter. Then simply move on to the next business or company, following the same procedures as above.
You are bound to find a business or company who will be only to happy to sponsor you and your sports team. In return you can offer to also have printed on the back of your tracksuits along with your team name, or whatever it is you need printed, the company or business name/title in way of advertising. Many companies and businesses would jump at this opportunity, as sport teams are always out and about in public. And we all know this is a very good way to in fact create future business.
Once you have managed to come to an agreement with a company or business, and they have decided to be your sponsor, you can then sort out a printing company to do the required printing for you. You should have by now already managed to give the company who is going to sponsor you an approximate estimate as what the cost will in fact be to have this done. You will always need to work in with your team, the printer and the company or business who is going to sponsor you and ultimately pay the expenses to have the printing done for you in the first place.
When you deal with a company or business who has become your sponsor, always be polite, use your manners, be accurate and keep them fully informed of what is going on and where and how etc.
If you treat your sponsor right, they in turn will be only to happy to possibly help you again at another time.
