Knowing how to get rid of a virus on your computer is a very important piece of knowledge you will need to know. Many computers come with a trial of the Nortons Anti Virus Protection Program. You will have to continually update any anti virus protection program you have to make sure, you are in fact protected at all times.

However if you do not have an anti virus protection program to be able to get rid of a virus, the software for varying programs are readily available form any store that deals with computers. If you choose not to purchase your own anti virus protection program, you can download a free anti virus protection program from the internet. Some anti virus protection programs are in fact recommended more than others, so constantly be aware of the performance of each available anti virus protection program.

Now that you have established you need an anti virus protection program to get rid of a virus, and you have made sure you DO have an anti virus protection program installed on your computer, you are armed (so to speak) to get rid of any virus your computer may catch.

Now you need to know how to use your anti virus protection program to help you to get rid of any virus your computer may be invaded with. How do I open the anti virus protection program you may ask yourself. Locate the anti virus protection program, and double click the icon (having an icon on your desktop, if you are not too familiar with getting around a computer is suggested), and the program will open.

The anti virus protection program is relatively easy to follow and understand, so will make getting rid of a virus easy. There will be many options of you to select to make operational. Knowing how to get your program to work, so you can get rid of a virus is the next step. Generally you need to run a full computer scan to make sure you get rid of any virus or other bad things that have managed to make their way into your system/s. You will clearly see an option to select to in fact run a full scan.

The anti virus protection program will (on clicking the option to scan) run a full scan on all of your hardware and files and folders held within your computer. Knowing how to get rid of a virus is really not that hard, but you will need to be aware you open and run your anti virus protection program constantly.

As I mentioned above, your anti virus protection program will have to be updated from the internet regularly, or when it advises you that updates are available, otherwise it may not get rid of any virus that could make its way into your computer.

Now that I have gone into how to get rid of a virus a little, make sure you do have an anti virus protection program installed on your computer, and go and see if you do need to get rid of any virus that may be lurking.
