The first thing we have to do to erase the history on internet explorer is to open up internet explorer by clicking on the internet explorer icon. You do not have to be connected to the internet to do this. You will notice up the top of the page 6 menus, file, edit, view, favorites, tools and help. You need to click on the tools menu. When you have clicked on the tools menu you go down the sub menu in front of you and highlight internet options. When you click on this it will open a new window entitled internet options. Don't be scared of all the jargon in front of you, as we are mainly interested in one thing and that is the internet explorer history part of this window.
The internet explorer history is down the bottom of the window and is titled history. When we read this part it says ‘the history folder contains links to pages that you've visited. For quick access to recently viewed pages'. You will notice the, ‘days to keep in history', is set to 20. If you want you can change this and set the number of days you wish to keep in history by simply changing this number. Next to this box is the clear history button which will erase the history on internet explorer. Click on this button and a new window appears prompting you whether you want your history erased. If this is what you really want to do then click on yes and your history on internet explorer will be erased. If this is not what you want to do then click on no. After you have confirmed or denied that you want to erase the history on internet explorer the confirmation window will disappear and the history will be erased (if you clicked on yes). Click ok on the internet options window and that is how you erase the history on internet explorer.
You may want to check that the history has been erased by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the address bar. You will notice that there are no links or sites saved there because you have just erased them. This is a particular useful tool if you don't want you friends or family seeing what sites you have been visiting or if there are sites that you don't want the younger members of the family accidentally visiting. As I said in the beginning save the links that you want in your favorites folder that way the ones you want won't be erased when you erase your history.
