How To Cook Salmon

By Jason Taingahue
Doesn't that make your mouth water? How to cook salmon? I know that it does mine. So how do we cook salmon? There are so many ways to cook this beautiful piece of fish, and we will be looking at some of these very ways of to cook them right now.

First of all when learning how to cook salmon, we must have a piece of salmon first. And to get one of these beautiful pieces of fish, a couple of options are to either fish for them and hope to hell that you get one, or you can do it the way that I do, and go down to the local fish shop and get a beautiful salmon steak which you can take home to cook.

Now that we are on our way to learn how to cook salmon, we need to make sure that it is a salmon steak. A salmon steak is one where all the horrible bits like the guts and the head, and the tail of the fish have been cut out. Even the bones are gone, so that you have a nice lean piece of meat to eat. That is what we call a salmon steak.

Once we have one of those wee treats, we can start cooking our salmon. And the first way we are going to learn how to cook salmon steak, is on an open fire, outside.

First of all, when learning how to cook a salmon steak this way, we must have a good fire going. So collect up a few rocks for protection and control of the fire, and then get some wood. Dry wood is the best, and then get the fire cranked up. Let it burn for a while so that the heat on the embers becomes intense. And remember to have a bucket of water, or be close to somewhere so that you can put the fire out, just in case it gets out of control.

Anyway, now lets get back to learning how to cook this salmon. Now that the fire is going, we need some tin foil, which can be purchased at most stores. Once we have the tin foil, lay the salmon steak inside the tin foil, and then cut some onions and herbs into it and wrap it up in the tin foil and then place it on the fire. Once you have done this when learning how to cook salmon, wait for about 20 minutes and then take it off. Let it sit for a while first because it will still be cooking. Then open the tin foil up, and enjoy that beautiful piece of fish.

The next method that we are going to use when learning how to cook salmon, is that of the conventional oven. To do this we will pre heat the oven to about 150 degrees Celsius. We will then obtain a dish that is big enough for the salmon to fit into, and put a little bit of butter or margarine in the bottom of it, and let it melt in the oven. Now we will cut up some onions, tomatoes, peppers, and carrots into dices. Then we will put the salmon into the pan, and surround it with the vegetables. Cook the salmon steak for about 30 minutes at 150 degree's Celsius, then take it out and let it sit for 5 minutes, and then serve it up with some baked potatoes.

Well that has made me hungry now.
