How To Clean An Iron

By Jason Taingahue
When learning how to clean an iron we must first have the right tools for the job. We need a rag, a teaspoon of sugar soap, a bowl with warm water in it, half a cup of warm water with half a teaspoon of sugar soap in it (we are going to put this into the iron, where the water goes) and an old towel so that we can iron off any remnants that may be left on the iron face after the cleaning. Make sure that the iron is not plugged in and ensure that you don't wet the plug at all during the cleaning process. It is best to be at a firm surface when cleaning your iron.

Now we shall start on how to clean an iron. Put the sugar soap into the bowl of water when elarning how to clean an iron and mix it around a little. Next, dip your cleaning rag into the bowl of warm water and then rinse it off completely so that it is wet but not dripping. Wipe around the outside of your iron, the sides, underneath and finally the top. Take your rag and rinse it off again and carefully clean the dial. Wipe the any grooves on the dial and wipe the handle of the iron on the inside. Make sure you clean the heated surface of the iron thoroughly. This is the part that connects with your clothes so you want this part to be as clean as possible. Let the iron sit for a couple of minutes so it can dry before we start cleaning the inside of the iron. Alternatively you can use a dry cloth and dry the iron off yourself.

When cleaning the inside of the iron we take the cup of water with the sugar soap already mixed in and pour it in the top of the iron. Just pour enough in so the iron fills up to its maximum line, you don't need to fill the iron right up till it's overflowing. Let the iron sit for a couple minutes and then squeeze the water button so that the water squirts out the top. This is going to clean the water nozzle as well. Give it a good couple of squirts so that the nozzle rinses out completely. When you have done that, making sure the plug on the iron is dry, plug the iron in and let it heat up.

When the iron has heated up thoroughly, take your old towel and start ironing it. Remember to squirt the water out through the nozzle and keep ironing, when learning how to clean an iron. This is going to remove any excess dirt that may be on the heated surface of the iron, it is also going to let the mixture of water and sugar soap goes through your iron and loosens any dirt on the inside. Don't worry about the mixture affecting your iron because it doesn't. After 5 minutes, turn your iron off at the wall. If you haven't emptied your iron of the water mixture then wait until the iron cools down and then tip the iron upside down, at the sink, and carefully tip the mixture out of the iron. Replace this mixture with normal water and you will have a clean iron ready to be used.

Well now that you know how to clean an iron, go ahead and try it yourself. learning how to clean an iron isnt that hard is it.

How can it be that easy? It is, so get to it.
