How To Build A Fence

Do you want to learn how to build a fence? If you have answered yes to this question then read on and I will explain to you how you can build a fence.

The first thing that you need to do is measure the distance that you need the fence in and once you have the measurement for this, then we can get to work on learning how to build this fence.

Let's just say that we are building one straight fence that goes in the front of the house to give us a little more privacy. With the measurements that you have for learning how to build a fence you now need to place a string at the start of the fence to the finish. Once this string is in place, we can then spray a line so that we have a visible mark of where we will be digging our main post holes that will be supporting the fence.

Now the next step in learning how to build our fence is to dig the supporting holes for our supporting posts and let's say that our fence line is say 10 meters from start to finish, go along and mark every meter with a spray mark. These are placed so that we know where to dig our holes for our main posts. Now dig the holes to the same depth and keep the front of the main posts flush with the string line and use a level as well to make sure that it is straight.

The next step to learning how to build a fence is to take get 2 beams of equal length that will cover the fence from start to finish. These beams are going to be nailed onto the posts on the outside of the fence and will act as support for the fence as well. So for this part of learning how to build a fence you will take the first supporting beam and measure it so that it is about 6 inches from the bottom and nail it to the outside of the fence and with the other supporting beam measure it 6 inches from the top so that you have 2 supporting beams, one from the top and one from the bottom. Different beams will be required depending on the type of fence you want and depending on the height of the fence too.

Now the final part of learning how to build a fence is to measure from the top of the fence to about 4 inches from the bottom of the fence. This is for the fence palings that we will be putting on. After you have done that you can then get the appropriate fence palings for the fence as there are several different types of fence palings that you can choose from. Just make sure that when you nail the fence palings on, they are equal distance apart and the right amount of space is at the bottom.

Well there it goes folks, how to build a fence. It is a lot of work I can tell you that, so take your time if you are going to build a fence the way I have just shown you and make sure that you get the measurements you need as well and write them down so that you don't forget just in case you need to build a fence for a friend or someone from your family.
