When you first begin to learn how to become a cop, you will discover that there are many key factors to actually become a cop. You have to go through testing and processing procedures. You will also learn that there is academy training along with field training involved in learning how to become a cop. You cannot just wake up one morning and think you are going to walk into a police precinct and apply for a position and to become a cop. It takes learning how to become a cop and lots of training.
On finding out more about how to become a cop, you will also discover that in some police precincts you will also have to take a civil service test. However this depends on where you want to become a cop. You generally hear back within two to three months of sitting the exams as to how you got on and whether or not you passed the examinations or in fact failed the examinations.
You will learn also that if you pass this examination and you are selected to learn how to become a cop, you will also have to pass a polygraph test. You will also find out that a character reference is performed on you as well.
You will then be put through an interview with a panel of veteran policeman, including a chief. Once you manage to successfully make it through this interview process, you will then need to wait for final selection confirmation from the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
When you begin to go through the processes of learning how to become a cop, you will also find that in some parts of the country, you will also be subjected to a drugs test and other varying character recommendations. However these sorts of tests vary from state to state and where it is you are wanting to learn how to become a cop for and then work in.
If you are still successful after this process, you will then be employed and trained in learning how to become a cop. You will also learn more about your own health, as it is standard procedure to be put through a full medical examination prior to any training on how to become a cop.
You will be sworn in as a cop and then you will be sent off to Police Academy for learning how to become a cop. You will be off at training for six months and then on completion of this you will have another three months worth of field training.
Once you have completed both of these training techniques and prerequisites you will be a fully fledged cop.
Obviously as I mentioned earlier in this article, learning how to become a cop and going through the procedures to actually become a cop do not just happen over night. It does take a while and you will have to be patient throughout the entire process.
