Cooking a suitable and sustainable meal for some can be daunting. Many are unaware just how easy, and simple it is to prepare and bake something as basic as a chicken.

Knowing how to bake a chicken, will in fact be one of the best references you will use in means of cooking for you and your family. Baking a chicken is very simple and is not at all time consuming.

There are many ways to bake a chicken, so below I have covered a few of these ways.

Some people will prefer to cover, or wrap their chicken in tinfoil. This can prevent the chicken from drying out while baking. Others will initially bake the chicken without the use of tinfoil, however in the last stages of baking will then cover the chicken with the tinfoil.

You can also, if you opt to, place the chicken in an oven safe bag especially designed for baking a chicken. These can be found at your local supermarket, anywhere in the world. You should not have any problems in locating these. If you cannot find them on your supermarket shelf, by all means ask one of the assistants to help you find them, or have them ordered in.

You can even side away from the use of your conventional oven and bake the chicken in your microwave. This does in fact cut down the cooking time.

However, you do not have to cover the chicken at all with tinfoil, neither do you have to place it in an oven safe bag if baking the chicken in the oven. Simply place a layer of water in the bottom of a Roasting Pan, add a couple of drops of cooking oil, or butter if you prefer. Place the chicken in the watered pan.

Many people prefer the chicken to be plain, without added seasoning. However if you have the acquired taste buds to experiment with a variety of added flavours to your baked chicken, don't hesitate to do so.

Try sprinkling over your chicken before baking, ingredients such as:

Lemon Juice, Ground Black Pepper, Light Sprinkling of Salt, Fresh or Dried Basil. This is delicious once the chicken has been baked.

You could go for other acquired tastes, using sauces already prepared and sold in the bottle. There is a wide variety available for purchase from your local supermarket. These could include: Garlic and Soya Sauce, Chilli Sauce, Apricot Sauce amongst many more. It is really up to what you prefer and what tempts your likings. You can even buy Chicken Seasoning to be sprinkled over your chicken before you bake it. All of these ingredients can and will add to the delicious flavour of your baked chicken.

Generally you should have your oven temperature based at approximately 160 - 180 degrees. Bake the oven for approximately 2 = - 3 = hours or until you can see it is cooked and there are no red juices running out it. You need to make sure the chicken is well baked to prevent the likes of food poisoning. Make sure you check your chicken from time to time, and if need be, place a little more water in the pan.

If you choose to, you can also mix up a breadcrumb seasoning mix and do what is called: Stuffing the chicken before baking. Once you have the breadcrumb mix all combined together you then spoon it into the inside of the chicken. This will in turn cook while your chicken is happily in the oven baking away.

Last but not least - serve with a variety of baked vegetables, sit and enjoy..!
