How To Ask A Co Worker Out

By Leeanne Utiger
Asking a co worker out can always be a scary or intimidating thing to do. Maybe you are afraid you are going to look like a fool if you do ask a co worker out, and they decline your invitation of going out. There are ways around this very thing and I wm going to go into how you can ask a co worker out without having to feel a fool or get embarrassed over anything that may result from the invitation.

I am going to however go into a few details regarding how to ask a co worker out for you.

To begin with, you have to keep very personal feelings out of the invitation initially. Bear in mind you have to work with this person and see them each and ever day at your place of work.

When you learn how to ask a co worker it will become easier, especially if you follow the same guidelines with each co worker you ask out, until of course your relationship with a particular co worker changes or progresses into more than just co workers going out.

Now if what I have said above has cause slight misunderstanding, then that is ok. The thing is, there are many kinds of relationships that people can have with any given person. Be that relationship a friendship or more. So when you learn how to ask a co worker out, it is always wise to base your invitation on a friendship level. If this level changes over time, then so be it.

Maybe you feel like going to the movies and have decided it would be nice to get to know a co worker better, maybe the particular co worker is a really nice person and someone you could see yourself relating to in your social circle away from work. This is often a possibility, and a very likely way of many people actually becoming personal friends away from work and the office, or where ever it is you are employed.

Maybe you have tickets to a sporting event. Simply keep the invitation when asking a co worker out strictly casual and non committal. It is always best to make friends with a co worker before moving on to anything more anyway. Explain to the particular co worker that you want to ask out that you in fact have a spare ticket and ask them if they would like to join you.

Maybe you could organise a barbeque for one weekend afternoon, where you could ask a few of your co workers out (so to speak). Many people get confused when they talk about learning how to ask others out, co workers included. Asking someone, or in this case a co worker out is not all about having romantic thoughts or ideas in ones head for the other. I mean to say, you don't even have to limit yourself to asking a co worker out who is of the other gender to you. Maybe you already have a partner, and you have both decided to put on a social gathering, and you thought it would be nice to included the co worker you work most closely to at work along, with or without a partner of their own. Asking a co worker out is in many cases just about creating a further friendship outside of the working arena.

If once you have invited a co worker out and it turns out that you both have an added interest in each other, then that is basically just an additional bonus. If this happens, it is then up to you both to set your own mutual boundaries on how you will handle such a situation at work.
