How To Apply Eyeliner
By Jason Taingahue This document is all about knowing how to apply eyeliner, so if you think you need to learn how to apply eye liner and where to apply eye liner, then i suggest you continue to read on further.
It is important when learning to apply eyeliner to first think about the type of eyeliner we want to know how to use. Eyeliners are available in a good range of colors, in both pencil and liquid liners, with black being the most widely used. There are 2 main types of eyeliner, liquid and pencil. There are pros and cons of both types of eyeliners, obviously there is no pencil to sharpen with liquid eyeliner, but the pencil gives you more control where as the brush sometimes has a mind of its own and tends to paint where it wants. The brush may become unshaped but the pencil can become blunt. So which one to choose?
Well this depends on your experience at applying eyeliner. The pencil is perfect for beginners, so long as the tip is blunt. After you have sharpened the pencil, gently write with it on a clean piece of paper, that's the best way to achieve a blunt tip. The tip should always be used when it is blunt because you don't want to be stabbing yourself in the eye when you apply the eyeliner. Remember to do this every time the pencil has been sharpened again. This is a good tip for applying eyeliner but it can sometimes be frustrating repeatedly sharpening the pencil.
Liquid liner requires a steady hand when you apply it. By the time you start using liquid liner, putting on eyeliner should be second nature to you. The beauty of liquid liner is it glides on, when you apply it to your eye area. It is painted on, however, if you get this wrong then you will have to wipe it all off and reapply it, so it is not for the impatient person. The black, in particular, is hard to get off. The good thing about liquid liner is once you have the hang of applying it, it's fast. This is important because you don't really want to be spending much time applying make up, I'm sure you have many better things to do.
A good tip is to use eyeliner (liquid or pencil) sparingly, in particular, the black eyeliner when you learn how to apply it. The point of an eyeliner is to show the shape of the eye and it is the shape of the eye that can be manipulated by the way the eyeliner is applied. The best way to apply eyeliner is to start from the inner eye and work outwards on the top and bottom starting from the middle of the eye. You can start right from the corner of the eye if this is your preference. This is a good way to line the eyes if you are going for the Cleopatra look. There are many ways to apply eyeliner for an effected look. You can smudge your eyeliner at the outer corners of the eyes. This gives the eyes a soft look and is quite dramatic if done well. Don't' smudge the whole line off, just the outer corners of the eyes. There is no right or wrong way to apply eyeliner.
It is a case of experimenting with the eyeliner and finding a look that you like. Maybe you could observe how other women are applying their eyeliner to their eyes and try that look for yourself. If you are happy with the way your liner is applied then that's right for you. Try different colors and play around with the shape of your eyes a bit. Don't be afraid to get away from the black.
Now that you know a little on how to apply eyeliner, away you go to pretty yourslef up for that speical occassion.
